About the Role:
Position Overview
The Division of Surgery is responsible for delivering inpatient and outpatient surgical services to the ACT and surrounding region. The Division includes surgical specialties, the ACT Trauma Service, Intensive Care Unit, Capital Region Retrieval Service, the Trauma and Orthopaedic Research Unit, and the Pain Management Unit. These Units are supported by administration support officers.
An opportunity is presented to join the Orthopaedic Unit in the role of an Orthopaedic Surgeon. The position is required to participate in the supervision, training, and professional development of the multidisciplinary team.
This position's clinical commitment will involve participation in the general on-call roster, as well as supporting the treatment of subspecialty interests, which may include trauma, spine, lower limb, including hip, knee, advanced arthroplasty, and Paediatric Orthopaedics.
The successful applicant will have subspecialty fellowship training in orthopaedic surgery as well as orthopaedic trauma surgery, and advanced skills relevant to both inpatient and outpatient services.

The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in the mandatory administrative, governance, and training requirements of medical officers in the Division of Surgery at CHS.
The position is based at Canberra Hospital and may work across all CHS sites.
There is an expectation that the successful applicant will maintain accountability for their own continued professional development, practice standards, and education. The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct, and the professional requirements specified by the appointee's Specialist College and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

The preferred candidate may be considered for a conjoint position in ANU at an academic level commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The academic position will be held for the duration of the Canberra Health Services employment and will be subject to regular performance reviews. No remuneration is attached to the University position. The employee will be responsible to the University on academic matters and to The Canberra Hospital & Health Services / Canberra Health Services for clinical/research matters.
