Join LGPS Central at a pivotal moment, where investment meets long term impact.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced investment writer, financial journalist, or communications professional with strong investment knowledge to join LGPS Central's Policy & Communications Team.
Working closely with investment professionals, senior leaders, and subject matter experts, you will translate complex investment, stewardship, economic, and policy topics into clear, engaging, and accurate content for Partner Funds, shareholders, policymakers, media, and other stakeholders.
You will play a central role in strengthening LGPS Central's reputation and profile through thought leadership, market commentary, impact reporting, corporate reporting, and strategic communications activity.
This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the narrative of one of the UK's leading LGPS asset pools and play a key part in communicating how investment expertise, stewardship, and pooling deliver long-term value for Partner Funds and their members.
What you’ll be doing:
Investment Content and Thought Leadership
- Produce high-quality content covering a broad range of investment topics, including public and private markets, responsible investment, stewardship, local investment, and economic growth.
- Draft thought leadership articles, opinion pieces, and technical commentary for trade, specialist, and mainstream media publications.
- Support the development of executive-level content, including articles, speeches, presentations, briefing materials, and commentary for senior leaders.
- Develop investment case studies that demonstrate outcomes, impact, and value creation on behalf of Partner Funds.
- Create compelling content that strengthens LGPS Central's position as a respected voice within the pensions and investment industry.
Corporate Reporting and Strategic Publications
- Lead the drafting, editing, and quality assurance of strategic corporate publications, including Annual Reports and Accounts, Shareholder Reporting, Responsible Investment Reports, stewardship disclosures, and other strategic publications.
- Work with colleagues across the business to gather information, develop narratives, and ensure messages are clear, accurate, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Ensure complex technical content is translated into accessible language without compromising accuracy.
- Support the development of reporting frameworks, editorial standards, and consistent corporate messaging across all major publications.
Stakeholder and Partner Fund Communications
- Produce content supporting Partner Fund engagement, client reporting, and strategic stakeholder communications.
- Develop materials that communicate investment performance, stewardship activity, responsible investment outcomes, and long-term value creation.
- Support communications associated with key strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with colleagues across investment, client relations, responsible investment, policy, operations, and leadership teams to identify and communicate impactful stories.

Media and External Communications
- Draft media commentary, press materials, and briefing documents supporting external engagement.
- Identify opportunities to promote LGPS Central's investment expertise through proactive communications activity.
- Work with the Communications team to support media relations, industry events, and external positioning activities.
- Develop content suitable for digital channels, websites, stakeholder publications, newsletters, and social media platforms.
Editorial Excellence
- Maintain exceptional editorial standards, ensuring all content is accurate, evidence-based, and aligned with LGPS Central's tone of voice.
- Build strong relationships with investment teams and subject matter experts to ensure technical accuracy and credibility.
- Create and maintain a library of reusable content, messaging, and knowledge resources that improve efficiency and consistency across investment communications.

LGPS Central (LGPSC) Ltd is the FCA regulated asset manager for fourteen local authority pension funds across the Midlands. LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by those Partner Fund, and it is responsible for managing £100bn+ of their assets. It is one of six Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK.

Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience writing about investments, pensions, asset management, financial markets, or related sectors.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt style for different audiences and channels.
- Ability to understand and communicate complex investment concepts clearly and accurately.
- Experience producing thought leadership, investment commentary, feature articles, reports, or corporate publications.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders and subject matter experts.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience within institutional investment, pensions, asset management, consultancy, or financial journalism.
- Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme, responsible investment, and stewardship.
- Experience drafting Annual Reports and Accounts, responsible investment reports, or other regulated corporate publications.
- Familiarity with media engagement, public affairs, or strategic communications.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level education (desirable but not essential with relevant experience).
