Job Opportunity: Materials Manager
J Murphy and Sons Ltd are currently recruiting for a Materials Manager to join our award-winning team at our Leeds Facility. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry.
Role Overview
The Materials Manager will ensure a high level and consistent approach to all specialist materials management, proactive stock monitoring, quality assurance, specification compliance, and traceability are achieved on all projects. The role will be mainly office-based, with hands-on requirements for issuing materials to the shop floor in line with the programme, aiding with offloading, checking for compliance, traceability, and storing material receipts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a high level and consistent approach to all specialist materials management, proactive stock monitoring, quality assurance, specification compliance, and traceability on all projects.
- Reviewing MTOs, Isometrics, and relevant data sheets to ensure materials are compliant and available for issue to the Facility for Fabrication.
- Maintaining liaison with the Materials Team relating to all aspects of material receipts, certification, and delivery schedules to the facility.
- Working closely with Fabrication supervisors to ensure programmes are met and material issues are dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Ensuring the SWS/PTS project controls are complete, such as reviewing drawings and completing isometric material issue to fall in line with the production schedule.
- Proactively maintaining traceability for materials to both Original Certification and Client, ensuring all non-conforming materials are quarantined accordingly and the relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
- Actively managing the Quarantine Register, engaging with all parties, and aiding with resolution through release or replacement.
- Supervising the assistant and ensuring they adhere to the requirements as outlined above, providing supervision to ensure all activities are covered.
- Establishing and maintaining a listing of all permanent materials in accordance with purchase orders/requisitions (Material Schedule).
- Receipt inspection of all permanent materials, including welding electrodes.
- Managing the storage, handling, and issue of Electrodes in line with Company Procedure.
- Maintaining certification records and liaising with the wider Specialist Materials Team as required, including regular teams and face-to-face meetings.

Requirements
- Oil and Gas or relevant related Piping Materials experience.
- Knowledge of the wider organization and how it functions within the external environment.
- Proactive individual, looking to improve, learn, and engage with the wider team and maintain the Facility & Company reputation.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent Excel skills.
