About the team

The Specialist Casework and Complex Cases Team (SCCT) manages some of the most complex, sensitive, and high-profile fitness to practise cases within the organisation. These cases often involve significant stakeholder interest, Public Inquiries, and matters that attract national media attention. The team works closely with colleagues across the organisation, including media and executive functions, to ensure cases are managed proportionately, fairly, and with a person-centred approach.

As part of an evolving structure, this newly created role will support a dedicated maternity workstream, helping to ensure that complex maternity-related cases are managed effectively while maintaining the highest standards of public protection, customer care, and operational excellence.

About the role

As Specialist Maternity Manager, you will provide operational leadership and oversight of complex and sensitive fitness to practise cases. You will work collaboratively with senior colleagues, lawyers, and stakeholders to ensure cases progress efficiently, risks are managed appropriately, and service standards are consistently met.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
