Job Summary
As a Diabetes Specialist Midwife, you will be a specialist resource in diabetes during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. The role of the Diabetes Specialist Midwife will encompass all aspects of education, research, and evidence-based practice and the post holder will be grounded in direct clinical care provision to women and their families.
As a Diabetes Specialist Midwife, you will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide and coordinate high standards of care for women whose maternity pathways are complicated by diabetes. The post holder will actively participate in the development of services to meet the needs of women with diabetes in maternity services, in line with national and local recommendations.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated midwife to join our diabetes team in a varied and rewarding specialist role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about patient care and keen to develop their skills within a supportive clinical environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our diabetes clinics, helping to ensure smooth day-to-day operations while delivering high-quality patient care. You will be confident, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

We are looking for someone who:
- Is dynamic, adaptable, and highly organised
- Is confident and capable of working in a self-directed manner
- Is enthusiastic about supporting patients in managing their diabetes
- Communicates effectively and provides compassionate patient care
This role is offered as a 22-hour per week contract, with flexibility in how the hours are worked.
