Specialist Motor Underwriting Summer Internship Programme

Turn Data into Decisions and Explore the World of Specialist Motor Insurance

Looking for more than just work experience? If you're curious about how insurers decide which risks to take, and how they use data to spot new opportunities, improve performance and build lasting relationships with brokers, this could be the perfect way to spend your summer. Join KGM, part of DUAL, and gain first-hand experience of specialist motor underwriting during this 10-week internship.

From classic and modified cars to agricultural vehicles, KGM operates in a varied and fast-moving market. You will work alongside experienced underwriters, analyse account performance, investigate new business opportunities and help support broker relationships.

You will join a fast, friendly and flexible business that has grown significantly in recent years. The programme will help you build your analytical, commercial and communication skills while discovering the different career paths available within underwriting.

What you'll be doing?

You will begin with a structured induction before joining the underwriting team, where you will work alongside experienced underwriters and gain hands-on exposure to the specialist motor insurance market.

During the programme, you'll:

  • Support underwriters in reviewing account performance, analysing data and identifying opportunities to grow and improve our portfolio.
  • Attend broker meetings and learn how strong relationships are built, maintained and developed across the insurance market.
  • Help assess new business opportunities, investigate trends and use data to support underwriting decisions.
  • Assist with responding to technical queries from brokers and operational teams, while gaining insight into how underwriting teams balance risk, service and commercial performance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
