Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist - Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team
A rare opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist in the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team in St Pauls, Hemel Hempstead.
The post is suited to an Occupational Therapist who enjoys the challenge of a fast-paced setting where positive Occupational Therapy outcomes are quickly seen. Occupational Therapy is an essential part of the treatment options within the Crisis Service, which supports individuals during the acute phase of mental ill health.
The role involves individual Occupational Therapy Treatment, and there is scope for group work. Settings include the Crisis Teams base, the local crisis therapy unit, service users' homes and their local community. Therefore, access to a vehicle is essential. You will receive support and supervision from a Band 7 Occupational Therapist.

Include OT assessment, individual and potentially group work intervention in a variety of settings.
Duties
- Manage a caseload with complex OT needs, using evidence-based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- Provide leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.
- Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services.
- Regularly supervise OT students on practice placement.
- Maintain records.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Complete OT assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the service user in areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.
- Use a problem-solving approach to reduce risk as home.
- Work with service users to identify OT goals as part of the care plan.
- Plan and implement individual interventions, in collaboration with the service user, using graded activity to achieve goals.
- Apply a broad level of understanding of the effect of disability and recommend adaptations to the service user's physical and social environment.
- Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for service users with multiple needs.
