The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed-term, 0.5 WTE Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Children and Young People’s Occupational Therapy Acute Team on a maternity leave cover basis. Based within the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, you will provide Occupational Therapy services to children and young people aged 0-18 years who have been referred from a variety of hospital specialities.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Fixed Term, part-time, 18 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Cover required on Monday and Friday
Base location: Royal Hospital for Children
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0-18 years.
- Work with patients referred from a range of specialist hospital services.
- Deliver care independently while contributing effectively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in occasional home, school, and nursery visits where required.
- Engage in regular supervision and continued professional development opportunities.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to do the Job
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Effective communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland check.
Desirable Requirements
- Post-qualification experience.
- Experience working in a hospital setting and/or with children and young people.
- Knowledge and understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy within Specialist Children’s Services.
- Full driving licence.
