Bloom Clinical Academy

Specialist Occupational Therapist & Neurodevelopmental Practitioner Fellowship

A Two-Year Specialist Development Programme

Location: Primarily Milton Keynes (with regular attendance at St Albans and occasional travel to London and UK-wide training events)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Band 5-6, Competitive, dependent on experience

Bloom Clinical is proud to launch the Bloom Clinical Academy for Specialist Occupational Therapy, an innovative two-year fellowship programme designed to develop the next generation of specialist clinicians in neurodevelopmental assessment, sensory integration, trauma-informed practice, and multidisciplinary diagnostics.

This is far more than a traditional Occupational Therapy role. It is a structured career development pathway that combines intensive training, specialist supervision, mentorship, and hands-on clinical experience within one of the UK’s most innovative neurodevelopmental services.

The Academy has been designed for qualified Occupational Therapists who are passionate about neurodevelopmental practice and wish to develop expertise that would typically take many years to acquire.

Through this programme, you will receive specialist training and supported clinical experience in:

  • Autism assessment and diagnostics
  • ADHD assessment and diagnostics
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia) assessment
  • Sensory Integration assessment and intervention
  • Trauma and attachment-informed practice
  • Multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment
  • Advanced clinical formulation
  • Report writing and diagnostic decision-making

By the end of the programme, you will be equipped to practise as a highly skilled Specialist Occupational Therapist and Neurodevelopmental Practitioner within a leading multidisciplinary service.

You will also support our St Albans clinic approximately one day per week and may occasionally travel to our London service and other UK locations to support Bloom Clinical’s nationally recognised training and professional development events.

What You Will Learn

Neurodevelopmental Diagnostics

You Will Undertake Specialist Training And Supervised Practice In:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/Dyspraxia)
  • Neurodevelopmental formulation
  • Multidisciplinary diagnostic assessment pathways

You will work alongside highly experienced clinicians and gain exposure to gold-standard assessment tools and diagnostic frameworks.

Sensory Integration Practice

Bloom Clinical is committed to developing future leaders in sensory integration.

The Academy Includes:

  • Funded Ayres Sensory Integration® training pathway
  • Structured sensory integration supervision
  • Assessment and intervention competencies
  • Clinical practice within our specialist sensory integration environments

You will develop the knowledge and skills required to assess sensory processing differences and deliver specialist intervention programmes using the Ayres Sensory Integration approach.

Trauma and Attachment Practice

You Will Gain Valuable Experience In:

  • Developmental trauma
  • Attachment-informed assessment
  • Trauma-responsive intervention planning
  • Understanding the overlap between neurodevelopmental and relational presentations

Our highly specialist multidisciplinary team includes clinicians with advanced expertise across neurodevelopmental diagnostics, sensory integration, occupational therapy, psychology, speech and language therapy, and trauma-informed practice.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for neurodevelopmental practice
  • Commitment to learning and professional development
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel between Bloom Clinical locations and training events as required

Highly Desirable

We Would Be Particularly Interested In Hearing From Applicants Who Already Have Experience Or Training In One Or More Of The Following Areas:

Sensory Integration

  • Experience working within sensory integration services

Due to the level of investment, training and specialist supervision provided through the programme, Academy places are expected to be highly competitive.
