Specialist Occupational Therapist Rotational - Fixed Term
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Band 6 rotation for a 12-month fixed term or secondment opportunity commencing in November 2026. The successful candidate will work in two of the clinical rotations on offer (acute wards, outpatient settings, community neuro, and Discharge to Assess.) Rotations are 9 months in duration.
About the Role
Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across Stockport and to GP’s across Manchester, Tameside, East Cheshire, and Derbyshire and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes in order to provide time-critical visits. Where possible, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act.
The post holder will work as part of a committed team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians, and Therapy Assistants delivering a service at Stepping Hill Hospital and in the Stockport community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 12-month vacancy cover within two of the specialist areas on a 9-monthly basis within Stepping Hill Hospital and other Stockport Foundation Trust sites.
- Participate in CPD, clinical audit, and in-service training.
- Assess, diagnose, plan, and deliver treatment programs to patients in their care.
- Ensure the service demand is met with adequate cover via a 7-day rota, covering weekends and bank holidays.
- Support and develop Band 5 therapists within the team and act as a clinical educator to students.
- Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further their own and team’s clinical practice.
- Make recommendations to the clinical team leader for changes to practice.
- Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service guidelines.
