Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist at NHS Tayside
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join NHS Tayside’s Hyper acute Stroke Unit at Ninewells Hospital as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist.
You will work within a fast-paced, specialist acute stroke service, providing occupational therapy assessment and intervention to patients in the hyper acute and acute phases following stroke. The role is central to supporting early rehabilitation, complex discharge planning, and recovery-focused care in close collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
You will manage a complex caseload, delivering timely specialist assessments that address functional ability, cognition, perception, and environmental factors to support safe patient flow through the stroke pathway. Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to make rapid, well-informed decisions within a dynamic environment are essential, alongside a person-centred approach to care.
The post includes clinical leadership responsibilities, such as supporting junior staff and students, alongside active involvement in service improvement and professional development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
