Job Description
Portman Smile Clinic Bude are seeking a Specialist Orthodontist as we future plan for succession, a fantastic opportunity.
About the Role
Portman Smile Clinic Bude is a specialist mixed practice, providing both NHS and private orthodontic services. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Cornish town of Bude, with great transport links to the surrounding areas.
The service is led by Specialist Orthodontist Paul Oades and we are now looking to future plan Paul’s wind down in the coming years, this opens up an opportunity for a new specialist to join the team.
Paul completed his orthodontic training and obtained his MSc at Guys Hospital in 1999. After spending the early part of his career in London and the surrounding areas he settled in the South West where he balances work with cycling, surfing, camping and walking the coastal paths with his dogs. This is a rare opportunity in a fantastic location ideal for a specialist orthodontist now reviewing their own future and seeking a role which offers variety and a fantastic quality of life.
What We Offer
- A flexible start date. If you’d like to start soon, we can look to integrate you as a new specialist to clinic whilst Paul remains in situ, or we can future plan a start date allowing you the time and space needed to wind down your current patients
- The role is currently part time however if you needed a full-time role to relocate, please do get in touch as there are conversations to be had
- Fantastic earning potential due to the competitive UOA rate and readily available private income
- The practice serves a wide geographical area that encompasses much of North Cornwall, North Devon and down as far as Wadebridge and the local surrounding communities
- We can provide both Orthodontic Therapy and Treatment Coordinator support, and we have a high caliber nursing team who are proactive and have a wealth of experience
- Based inside our Portman Dentex Morwenna Dental clinic, the Portman Smile Clinic is a dedicated orthodontic practice with an NHS contract.
- A modern clinic with up-to-date equipment and technology, including digital radiography, Orthotrac and R4 practice software, and a Trios intraoral scanner

- The practice is keen to support local charities, and to date have supported and installed 170 defibrillators in and around the South West as part of “Jays Aim”
