Your Role
Want a role where no two days are the same and where your organisation really matters? Join our PA team and help senior leaders make the best use of their time, keep priorities moving and deliver for Stockport.
You will be a trusted point of contact for Service Directors, working closely with them and with a supportive team of PAs. You will manage busy diaries, organise meetings, keep track of actions and deadlines, and make sure the right information reaches the right people at the right time.
This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing order to a busy day, solving problems and building strong working relationships. You will handle sensitive information, use your judgement and take ownership of tasks, while knowing when to ask for support.
About You
You may already have PA or administration experience, however we are also interested in transferable experience from university, placements, projects, customer-facing work or other busy environments.
You do not need to know how a council works from day one. What matters is that you are organised, curious, comfortable using Microsoft 365, and ready to learn. You will be able to write clearly, pay attention to detail and stay calm when priorities change.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
