Exciting Opportunity for a Band 7 0.75 WTE Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 0.75 WTE (28 hours a week) Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our paediatric respiratory multidisciplinary team, working across the Children's Hospital, including the general and respiratory wards and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Role Overview

The post holder will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, expert care for children and young people with respiratory neurodisability and their families. They will manage a specialist caseload of children who require respiratory support as part of their neurodisability and who meet the service's referral criteria. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams to coordinate care, optimise resources, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical leadership, specialist advice, and practical support to children, young people, and their families throughout their care journey.
• Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, accurately documenting and communicating findings, identifying patients whose condition is deteriorating, and taking appropriate action in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Coordinate the Respiratory Neurodisability Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) clinic, ensuring effective planning, communication, and continuity of care.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised respiratory care and escalation plans to support children, young people, and their families across hospital and community settings.
• Prescribe and coordinate oxygen therapy, working closely with community teams to ensure the safe provision, ongoing management, and review of home oxygen and other respiratory support.
