A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a passionate, highly motivated, and dynamic Specialist Pharmacist clinical trial, to join the pharmacy clinical trials team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting time to join the Royal Marsden Hospital Clinical Trials Department. Our service is built around providing a high-quality service to our patients and staff of the Trust.

The Royal Marsden is a world-leading cancer centre with two hospitals: one in Chelsea, London, and another in Sutton, Surrey. We also have a satellite Medical Day Care Unit located on the grounds of Kingston Hospital, Surrey.

This position will be based in Chelsea, but it might require working at our Sutton site, when necessary, due to operational demand.

Applicants should have previous experience in clinical trials, and a background in oncology or haemato-oncology would be advantageous.

You will be part of a team consisting of Pharmacists, Technicians and Assistants, who are always striving for excellence in all aspects of our work. We are working collaboratively as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team to ensure we always deliver outstanding care to our patients.

Role Purpose

To maintain and support the Pharmacy Clinical Trials service in accordance with current UK Clinical Trial Regulations together with ICH GCP guidelines and departmental procedures, ensuring provision of a high-quality service to patients and staff at the Royal Marsden, and all aspects of Clinical Trials Pharmacy Dispensary/ Day units/ Wards at Chelsea & Sutton as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide highly specialised pharmaceutical and clinical advice regarding all trial medicines, including Advance Therapy Investigational Medicinal Products (ATIMP), Genetically Modified Organism (GMO), to senior medical and nursing staff, across all trial phases and specialties.
  • Liaise closely with the research team and provide highly specialist advice in prescribing and management of adverse events of IMP in line with the clinical trial protocol.
  • Lead pharmacy clinical trials team on education, training and clinical governance for new and active clinical trials.
  • Attend the research clinic, and support with Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) if qualified to do so.
  • Support the clinical trial senior team in service review and lead in projects.
  • Deputise for the Lead Pharmacist, Clinical Research and Development (R&D) in their absence.
