Are you an experienced and motivated pharmacist with a passion for research, innovation and clinical trials? NHS Golden Jubilee is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team in a permanent 21.6 hours per week role, supporting the delivery of high-quality research and medicines governance across our organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in the management of clinical trials and research activity within a progressive and forward-thinking Pharmacy Service. The successful candidate will provide specialist pharmaceutical input to both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials, ensuring the safe, effective and compliant use of investigational medicinal products across NHS Golden Jubilee.

About The Role

As the specialist pharmacist for clinical trials and research pharmacy activities, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, researchers and external partners to support the delivery of research that improves patient care and outcomes. You will contribute to the development of a vibrant research culture within the Pharmacy Service and help strengthen collaborative links with the University of Strathclyde, creating opportunities for greater pharmacy involvement in research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading the provision of pharmaceutical support for commercial and non-commercial clinical trials within NHS Golden Jubilee.
  • Ensuring the safe and effective use of clinical trial medicines in accordance with local, national and international regulations, legislation and best practice standards.
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the University of Strathclyde and other research partners.
  • Identifying opportunities for pharmacy-led and multidisciplinary research and supporting colleagues to develop their research knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Contributing to the development of a sustainable research culture within the Pharmacy Service.
  • Writing, reviewing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and processes relating to clinical trials and unlicensed medicines.
  • Supporting compliance with medicines management policies, pharmaceutical governance requirements and medicines legislation.
  • Promoting the values of Respect, Kindness, Teamwork and Learning in all aspects of practice.

About You

We are looking for a pharmacist who is enthusiastic about advancing research and innovation within healthcare. You will have strong clinical governance skills, excellent communication and collaborative working abilities, and experience of working within medicines management and ideally research environments. The post holder will have protected time of at least one session per week to work collaboratively with the University of Strathclyde to identify and progress pharmacy-led research.

You Will Be Able To Demonstrate

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Experience in pharmacy practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical trials legislation, medicines governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and build productive partnerships.
  • A commitment to developing research capability and supporting professional growth in others.
