Specialist Pharmacist Intensive Care and Surgery
We are seeking a patient-focused pharmacist aiming to build on established clinical skills and work closely with clinicians in providing a high-quality service to patients within East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT). This specialist pharmacist post is based within the Diagnostics, Anaesthetics and Surgery (DAS) Division and is responsible for supporting the Lead Divisional Pharmacist in providing clinical pharmacy and business-level support within ESHT.
Overview
The post holder will work with consultants, other medical staff, nurses, pharmacy staff and other allied healthcare professionals to ensure medicine use is safe, effective and evidence-based across ESHT. The role includes clinical pharmacy services to Intensive Care and Surgical Assessment Unit wards, with occasional support to the dispensary. There is an education and training commitment to develop staff, including mentoring pre-registration pharmacists, pharmacy undergraduates and rotational clinical pharmacists.

The applicant will be required to join the department weekend and on-call service on a rota basis following orientation and induction.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- BSc (Pharmacy) / BPharm / MPharm
- CPD portfolio demonstrating ongoing commitment to personal development
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy or pharmacy practice / other equivalent
- Training in pharmacoeconomics / resource or change management
Experience
- Post-registration experience as a clinical pharmacist in the NHS (e.g., primary care, secondary care)
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in medicines optimisation and patient-facing clinical roles
- Experience in the relevant specialty
- Experience in service development, audit or quality improvement
- Experience supervising or training junior staff / students

Salary
£49,387 to £56,515 per year, pro rata
