The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist to join the Surgical and Critical Care Pharmacy Team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This role is ideal for pharmacists who are looking to develop their clinical expertise within a supportive teaching hospital environment, working alongside experienced pharmacists and multidisciplinary teams across a range of specialist surgical and critical care services.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis following interview and during the pre-employment verification process. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Permanent Role
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- 36 Hours Per Week (8.30am - 4.45pm 4 Days, 8.30am - 1.30pm 1 Day. On Call/Weekend working rota participation also required)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop patient-focused clinical pharmacy services across a variety of surgical specialties, including regional and national centres for Intestinal Failure, Burns, Plastics and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary diseases.
- Work across surgical wards and regular rotations within the Critical Care Unit, attending daily ward rounds and working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to perioperative clinics across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
- Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
- Support the development of technical staff, foundation pharmacists, and trainees.
- Provide expert medicines information and prescribing support.
- Promote patient safety.
- Contribute to the ongoing modernisation and development of pharmacy services.
- Opportunities to progress advanced clinical practice in line with the Advanced Practice Curriculum are actively encouraged.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent).
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Completion of, or close to submission of, the post-registration RCP qualification (or equivalent).
- Possess, or be working towards, an Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working within a clinical pharmacy setting.
- Commitment to developing advanced clinical practice and supporting multidisciplinary working.
