York Children’s Therapy Team
Our York Children’s Therapy Team provides high-quality, compassionate care across York and Selby for children and young people aged 0–18 with neurodevelopmental conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Physiotherapist to work with a diverse caseload of developmental, neurological, and physical needs. The post is advertised as 18.75 hours and is a permanent position within our team.
In this role, you will play a key part in helping children and young people maximise their physical potential and independence. The post may involve working across various settings, including the Child Development Centre at York Hospital, Selby Hospital, community settings, and both mainstream and special schools.
Responsibilities
- Provide Specialist Physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and diagnosis support for patients within the specialty of Children’s Neurodevelopmental Physiotherapy.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner, holding responsibility for your own caseload of patients with complex physical, psychological & cognitive problems.
- Take responsibility for delivery of evidence-based, or best practice physiotherapy care relevant to the Paediatric field.
- Work closely with other members of the Multi-Disciplinary team and collaborate with colleagues in the management of patients.
- Provide support, leadership, specialist advice and tailored training, supervision, and mentorship to less experienced members of staff, students, and apprentices.
- Participate and engage in regular clinical and managerial supervision, and undertake education and training in order to develop oneself and others.
- Contribute to audit and service improvement to evaluate and improve clinical practice.
- Have an awareness of Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and statutory duties in relation to this area.
