Critical Care Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Critical Care Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist to join our team on the St Marys site as part of the wider critical care therapy service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Our friendly department is full of opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic physiotherapist who wishes to progress specialist clinical expertise and leadership skills within a critical care unit within a London-based trust. This post would be based within critical care at St Marys Hospital.

This would include a wide variety of patients on critical care including major trauma, neuro-surgical, vascular, and medicine.

Key Requirements:

  • Experienced Band 6 or current Band 7 Physiotherapist, with a keen interest in the field of critical care physiotherapy.
  • Wide range of clinical experience, good communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a passion for delivering excellent patient-centered care.
  • Opportunity to develop specialist skills and knowledge in the areas of respiratory physiotherapy including NIV, ventilator, and tracheostomy weaning and rehabilitation within the critical care.
  • Ability to participate in 7 days working and evening on-calls.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership alongside the Clinical Lead Therapist in the planning, organisation, co-ordination, delivery, evaluation, and development of the critical care/surgical/medical physiotherapy service throughout the hospital, on a day-to-day basis.
  • Take a leading role in the advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment of patients within the specialty who may have complex needs or presentation.
  • Provide expert opinions on weaning and rehabilitation of patients in critical care.
  • Undertake a significant clinical caseload working at a specialist level with other agencies and health professionals and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Maintain and develop a level of expertise within the specialty and as a senior clinician play an active part in the post-graduate training of physiotherapists, physiotherapy students, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Actively support the development and evaluation of clinical practice by postgraduate education, clinical audit, and research.
  • Work with other senior clinicians and team leaders within physiotherapy to provide integrated care across the specialist areas and between acute and community services.
  • Be responsible for service development within the team, to implement policy and policy changes within the clinical area in partnership with the Clinical Service Lead, physiotherapy, and MDT colleagues.
