Band 6 Podiatrist
(1.0wte) 36 hours per week
Work base: Highland Podiatry Centre, Abban Street, Inverness
This is an exciting post for those who wish to increase and improve their clinical skills.
NHS Highland (unlike other Health Boards) encourages all clinical staff to work to the top of their scope of practice. We will encourage development of skills such as steroid injections and prescribing.
This post may incorporate a short period of support and induction primarily because we work so differently from other Boards.
The types of daily clinical work you will undertake include:
- Nail surgery
- MSK assessments
- Wound care management of the high risk limb
If not familiar or confident with Post Tibial blocks, deep enucleations, and needling / blunt dissections of verrucae, we will provide some support in up-skilling you.
Candidate Requirements:
- The candidate may be employed at a Band 6 Level although we may consider a new graduate at Band 5 level with a view to upgrading after a period of mentorship.
- BSc qualification in Podiatric Medicine
- Qualified in L.A and nail surgery
- Registration with the HPC

Work Base:
The work base is at Highland Podiatry Centre in Inverness. Inverness is in good commuting distance to both the West Coast of Scotland and further North and has good transport links to South. This is the perfect base for those who enjoy the outdoors.
The highly motivated South & Mid Podiatry team is part of the much wider NHS Highland Podiatry Department and all divisions meet regularly.
Essential Skills:
- Demonstrate a sound professional and clinical knowledge, with understanding of clinical governance, and its application.
- Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise, plan and organise your workload.
- Full, current driving license.
