The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Full and part time Specialist Podiatrist. The postholder will have full range of podiatry skills with a particular focus on Wound management and Foot protection. You will provide professional specialist podiatric care in a variety of settings as an autonomous practitioner while remaining part of a wider team, provide a high level of care both palliative and corrective treatments as part of a care plan whilst liaising or referring to other Health Care Professionals or Agencies as appropriate and plan, manage and organise own workload to ensure effective caseload management of a diverse range of medium/high risk patients presenting with complex needs and a range of co-morbidities, mainly within the community setting, ensuring appropriate delegation and on going supervision of previously assessed patients to Podiatrist, Podiatry Technicians.

The postholder has leadership in a designated specialised area within a caseload incorporating patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge. Has responsibility as speciality lead for the development of service to include education and development of staff within the specialty.
In This Key Role, You Will
The post holder has full responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, planning, development and delivery of care plans of a mixed Podiatry caseload. The post holder is required to cover a specialised caseload in one or more of the following areas: diabetes, biomechanics, rheumatology, acupuncture, electrosurgery, podopaediatrics and a variety of specialist areas of clinical practice.
As an autonomous clinician, perform a variety of intricate and invasive clinical procedures, to cure, improve or alleviate the symptoms of foot disorders using specialist podiatric instruments and equipment. For example, corn enucleation, nail surgery, cryotherapy and sharp ulcer debridement.
Plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, which is evidence based and uses all available resources.
What You'll Bring
- Health & Care Professions Council Registered with a diploma/degree in Podiatric Medicine
- Local Analgesia Certificate - which proves competency to administer analgesia where foot condition requires.
- Post graduate experience within podiatric speciality that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Knowledge of Policies, Procedures and Protocols relevant to Podiatry in NHS Lanarkshire especially those that pertain to Infection Control, Decontamination and Health and Safety.
- A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
