We are delighted to be advertising for a Specialist Practitioner Psychologist/ Specialist Psychological Therapist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy / Psychotherapeutic Counselling) to join our urgent care team, based in Saint Leonards-on-Sea. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Specialist Practitioner Psychologist / Specialist Psychological Therapist to join our supportive and innovative Urgent care teams. You'll work alongside psychology colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary team committed to providing exceptional care to those experiencing a mental health crisis. This post is open to those newly qualified - there is support within the service to develop.

You will work with people with a wide range of mental health problems, their families and carers. Many people come to urgent care with their first experience of mental health difficulties as a result of bereavement, addiction, physical illness, domestic violence, onset of dementia, debt or workplace bullying; so we would welcome applicants with a range of experience, who may not have worked in an acute or urgent care environment before. We also see a range of people with complex mental health difficulties with histories of service use and work closely with community teams, acute wards and other specialist services in Sussex; so experience in these areas would also be welcomed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
