Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Screening Practitioner (SSP) to join the expanding Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. This role supports service growth following the introduction of the FIT@80 pathway, helping to deliver high-quality screening, surveillance, and early cancer detection services.
As an SSP, you will provide specialist assessment, counselling, and support to participants throughout their screening journey, including managing patients with abnormal FIT results, coordinating colonoscopy pathways, and ensuring timely follow-up care. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help maintain national screening standards while delivering a patient-centred service.
We are seeking a registered healthcare professional with excellent communication, clinical assessment, and organisational skills. Experience in cancer services, gastroenterology, endoscopy, or screening programmes is desirable, although full training will be provided.
Based at Kettering General Hospital, the role also requires working across Northampton General Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and improved patient outcomes within a supportive team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
