Specialist SEND Support Assistant | Southall | Primary School
Location: Southall, West London
Pay: £100-£110 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

That's why great SEND practice isn't about following a script. It's about getting to know the individual child - how they communicate, what helps them engage, what can overwhelm them and what allows them to succeed.
A supportive primary school in Southall is looking for an experienced Specialist SEND Support Assistant to work with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication, behaviour and emotional regulation.
You'll become an important member of the school's SEND provision, working closely with the SENCO and teaching team to ensure support is genuinely shaped around individual pupils.
The Children You'll Support
Pupils May Have Needs Including:
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH
- Speech & Language Needs
- Sensory Needs
- Learning Difficulties
- Communication Needs
Some children may require structured 1:1 support.
Others may benefit from targeted small-group interventions or additional help within the classroom.

Your role is to understand what each pupil needs and help them gradually develop the skills and confidence to participate more independently.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide individual and small-group SEND support.
- Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of the SENCO and teaching team.
- Support pupils working towards EHCP outcomes.
- Adapt activities and resources to make learning accessible.
- Recognise signs of anxiety, frustration or dysregulation.
- Use appropriate strategies to support emotional regulation.
- Help pupils develop communication and social interaction.
- Encourage independence rather than creating dependency.
- Observe pupil progress and share meaningful feedback.
- Work closely with teachers and other Teaching Assistants.
- Contribute to reviews and individual support planning.
- Help create an environment where pupils with SEND feel understood and included.
We're Looking for Experience - But Also the Right Approach
You'll ideally have significant experience supporting children with SEND within a school or similar education setting.
Just As Importantly, You'll Be Someone Who:
- Is curious about what sits behind a child's behaviour.
- Understands that communication isn't always verbal.
- Remains calm when a child is struggling.
- Can build relationships through patience and consistency.
- Notices small changes and recognises progress.
- Works collaboratively with other professionals.
- Is confident sharing observations and ideas.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
