Job Opportunity: Speech and Language Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our schools team. The post holder will have a degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) and will be HCPC registered. They will have significant post-registration experience and will work as an autonomous practitioner.

Role Overview

The post holder’s primary role will be to take responsibility for providing a specialist speech and language therapy service to children with speech, language and communication difficulties in mainstream schools, including developmental speech and language disorders. In addition, they may be required to deliver speech and language therapy assessment and management to children with a broad range of paediatric conditions within other areas of the Children’s SLT service either as part of their normal timetable or on a rotational basis as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, intervention, management and discharge to children with speech, language and communication difficulties which may be associated with a range of developmental speech and/or language disorders, in the primary and secondary school age range.
• Deliver services in community settings and educational provisions utilizing a range of delivery modalities including face-to-face and virtual.
• Work as part of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams within the settings described above, managing the clinical caseload within their areas of responsibility.
• Participate in service development projects, waiting list initiatives and audits.
• Support the development of Band 5 speech and language therapists (SLTs) and provide supervision for Health Care Support Workers.
• Provide clinical placements for undergraduate SLT students and participate in teaching/training of other professions.
