Speech and Language Therapist Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our Babies, Children, and Young People (BCYP) Speech and Language Therapy Service, working across both our Special Schools Team and Early Years Team.

About the Role

The post holder will hold a degree qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). They will have significant post-registration experience and will work as an autonomous practitioner.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a specialist speech and language therapy service for children with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties across our special schools, specialist provisions for children with complex needs, and early years settings.
• Work collaboratively across both the Special Schools and Early Years Teams.
• Be responsible for assessment, intervention, advice and support to children, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Provide assessment and management for children with a broad range of paediatric conditions within other areas of the BCYP Speech and Language Therapy Service.
• Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, intervention and management for children with speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, education staff and other professionals to support communication development and create communication-friendly environments.
• Contribute to the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) process.
• Participate in service development, waiting list initiatives and clinical audit activities.
• Support the supervision and development of Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists, Healthcare Support Workers and student Speech and Language Therapists.
• Contribute to teaching, training and multidisciplinary working.
