Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
We are excited to offer an opportunity to join the SLT service within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. We work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disability in inpatient and community services. We are seeking a full-time (permanent) Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our Adult Community Integrated Team with a mixed communication and Dysphagia caseload.
About the Role
The SLT services support a variety of speech, language, and communication and/or dysphagia needs, covering community and specialist settings across the city and county for adults with physical, mental health needs, or developmental conditions/delay, including Intellectual Disability and Developmental Language Disorder.
The SLT services also include preventative information and guidance, working to empower parents, carers, other professionals, and agencies to support speech, language, and communication skills as well as eating and drinking.
You will be well supported by senior colleagues, with opportunities for peer support, supervision, and CPD.
Responsibilities
- The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines and you will be contributing to a multi-disciplinary service supporting adults with intellectual disabilities in settings across Nottingham City and/or North Nottinghamshire.
- Your role will be to support the person to live well with their mental health, communication, and eating/drinking needs.
- The post holder is responsible for providing specialist SLT assessment, formulation, and diagnosis, requiring advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection, and interpretation and analysis, and subsequent therapy/management programmes within the designated specialism/setting/district.
- The post holder may also support senior colleagues around strategic developments within their specialism/setting/district in liaison with their line manager. They will also support senior colleagues in the development and delivery of training and professional mentorship in their specialism/setting/district.
- The post holder will provide specialist clinical expertise within specialism/setting/district.
