About the Role
Barnsley Hearing Support Service is a highly regarded and forward-thinking team, with a shared commitment to working collaboratively with others to build capacity and bring about positive change for children and young people with hearing needs. We are a high-profile service within Barnsley Council’s Education, Early Start and Prevention Directorate. We are embedded within the LA SEND Strategy and are key in driving forward strategic plans to promote positive outcomes for children and young people with hearing loss. Barnsley’s Hearing Support Service sits within the Education Inclusion Service.
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will work closely with the advisory teachers in the Hearing Support Service to meet the needs of children and young people aged 0-25. You will be working within a robust needs-led service model that supports a graduated approach with a focus on building capacity. Your practice will be person-centred and you will work collaboratively with children and young people, their families and education settings. The role will involve providing advice and guidance and the planning and delivery of interventions to develop independence and achieve positive outcomes for children and young people. You will work closely with children and young people ensuring they can access learning, social activities, and daily living skills with confidence and independence. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to support children and young people to develop their independence in preparation for adulthood.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with the advisory teachers in the Hearing Support Service.
- Meet the needs of children and young people aged 0-25.
- Provide advice and guidance.

Requirements
- The successful candidate will be required to speak English to an appropriate standard.
- This post requires an Enhanced DBS Check.
- If you are currently living overseas or have lived overseas in the last five years, you will be required to apply for an overseas criminal records check from the country/countries you have resided in.
