Are you a Specialist Teaching Assistant who can drive and are passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs?

Milk Education are currently recruiting for a Specialist Teaching Assistant with a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle to join a school in Hasland, Chesterfield.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about SEND and wants to make a real difference to a young person's education, development and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and make progress both academically and personally.

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent, individualised support and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Supporting pupils to access learning and participate fully in school life
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting communication, social and emotional development
  • Helping pupils manage their behaviour and emotions using positive strategies
  • Following individual support plans and adapting your approach to meet pupil needs
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning

About You

The successful Specialist Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle – essential
  • Be passionate about supporting children with additional needs
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs
  • Be able to build strong relationships with children and young people
  • Work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • Be flexible, proactive and willing to get stuck in
