An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Validation Analyst to support the delivery of high-quality validation and processes across the organisation. The postholder will play a key role in ensuring that data, activity and performance information is accurate, complete and compliant with national NHS standards in line with the RTT Guidelines.
Working closely with the Validation Manager and wider corporate and operational teams, the Senior Validation Analyst will contribute to the validation of datasets and performance reports, supporting effective decision-making, governance and regulatory compliance. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of departments to resolve data quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
Main duties of the job
- Support the Validation Manager in the development, implementation and maintenance of validation frameworks, procedures and controls in line with RTT guidelines.
- Undertake routine and ad-hoc validation of data submissions ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency and timeliness.
- Provide day-to-day support, guidance and supervision to Validation Clerks within the team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and validation tasks are completed accurately and to agreed timescales.
- Investigate data anomalies and validation failures and work with relevant teams to identify root causes and agree corrective actions.
- Maintain clear audit trails and documentation to evidence validation activity and compliance with internal and external assurance requirements.
- Liaise with clinical, operational, informatics and commissioning teams to promote understanding of validation requirements and data quality standards.
- Support internal and external audits, inspections and reviews by preparing validation evidence and responding to queries.
- Assist in the production of validation reports and summaries for senior management as required.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of guidance or training on validation processes and data quality responsibilities.
- Monitor compliance with national NHS reporting and performance escalating risks or issues as appropriate.

The purpose of the role is to provide specialist validation support to IHC’s and corporate departments across the organisation. The post holder will be a specialist in their particular area and will work with operational managers and their staff to develop detailed understanding of the organisation’s validation requirements.
The post holder will lead discrete pieces of validation work and be responsible for advising on specialist validation issues. The post holder will support a range of organisational and IHC projects, providing specialist validation advice and analysis.

The post holder will be responsible for developing new reporting tools and techniques and ensuring that the department is maximising its use of appropriate technologies to ensure the provision of a high-quality validation service.

Qualifications/Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent relevant experience
- Post-graduate diploma in Informatics/Statistical subject or equivalent relevant experience
- Specialist knowledge of a range of statistical techniques. E.g. SPC, Standard Deviation, Confidence Intervals, ANOVA
Desirable criteria
- Membership of an Informatics professional body (e.g. British Computer Society or UKCHIP)
- Management Experience
- A level maths

Essential criteria
- Significant experience in an analytical role across a number of areas.
- A specialist knowledge and understanding of the Health Board’s computerised administration systems.
- Experience of working with a range of statistics with a high degree of numeracy.
- Specialist knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products (particularly Excel and Access)
- Expertise in translating all National Minimum Datasets/abstract data into comprehensible and meaningful information for end-users i.e. key decision makers.
- An expert knowledge of National Data Dictionary items and NHS information codes.
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Health Board’s policies of Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
