Job Opportunity: Specialist Palliative Care Practitioner

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a multidisciplinary setting that is supportive and covers all elements of palliative care.

About the Role

The post holder will work in Meadow House hospice which is a 15 bedded unit located in the grounds of Ealing Hospital. This is a fixed term post for 12 months and has no on-call requirement. Hours of service are 9-5 Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily supervision of all ward admissions
  • Day to day management of patients admitted for symptom control or terminal care
  • Ward-based administration required for funding applications, deaths, and discharges

Requirements

The post would suit an applicant who would like to gain hands on experience of specialist palliative care before formal application for specialty training. Prior experience of working in a specialist palliative care environment is desirable but not essential.

Working with Us

The post holder will work as part of the existing multidisciplinary specialist palliative care team on the inpatient ward at Meadow House. This will include a holistic assessment of the needs of patients on admission. The post holder will provide timely and evidence-based advice on management of symptoms. They will be involved in decision making and providing advice on appropriate transfer to other settings (e.g. home, nursing home, hospice). The post holder will support other members of the specialist palliative care team in managing patients with complex needs and in handling difficult consultations.
