Specialty Dentist in Orthodontics

We are currently seeking to recruit a Specialty Dentist in Orthodontics to join our team in the provision of specialist care for patients referred to the Consultant-led Hospital Orthodontic Service in NHS Lanarkshire. The service aims to deliver high quality orthodontic care in a patient centered environment for complex and multidisciplinary cases. The post will include duties at University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres and is offered on the basis of 10 PAs per week.

There is excellent nursing and technical support from our onsite dental laboratories and there are opportunities to be involved in training.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Full registration with the General Dental Council
  • Be included on the GDC specialist list in Orthodontics
  • A minimum of four years postgraduate experience, including completion of a three year SAC approved postgraduate training programme in Orthodontics leading to Membership in Orthodontics (Morth) qualification and a certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST)

Additional SPA Time

Proposals for additional SPA time from applicants are encouraged. In addition to the 1 PA for Non-DCC/SPA activities, the Board is supportive of applications for additional SPA time from individuals with well-developed ideas for improving services who are able to demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), Medical Education, Research & Development, acting as an Appraiser, etc. Applicants who are able to demonstrate a commitment to any of the above or other areas and wishing to commence on more than 1 PA for SPA duties should discuss proposals with the identified Recruitment Lead and/or Service Manager (provide contacts) who will consider the request in line with the successful candidate’s professional and service requirements.
