Applicants are welcomed from candidates with a minimum of 2 years' experience in Anaesthetics.

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our team of developing anaesthetists at our Royal Lancaster Infirmary site. This is an excellent opportunity for an Anaesthetist to develop further skills in Obstetric Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine, and Anaesthesia.

About the Role

The hospital is a trust with 5 site bases, with intensive care departments on 2 of its larger sites and theatres on 3 of the 5 sites. You will be based at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with an expectation to cover Westmorland General Hospital as required. All of our hospitals offer a warm, friendly environment which we pride ourselves upon.

Location

Royal Lancaster Infirmary is based within the Historic, University City of Lancaster, which contains many shops, restaurants, cinemas, and theatres. Furness General Hospital is based in North Lancashire close to the Lake District. Westmorland General Hospital is located on the outskirts of the popular Lakeland town of Kendal.

Our hospitals are situated near areas of outstanding natural beauty, which offer superb outdoor and recreational activities close to the Lake District, an ideal base to escape large City Centre pressures. Access to good transport links by train and road allows for easy reach to many northern cities, such as Manchester and Liverpool, where you will find a wealth of shops, restaurants, museums, and galleries.

Job Details

The department runs a full shift pattern with prospective cover for annual leave and study leave. The post is 10-13 PA per week, depending on agreed job plans, of which 1 PA per week will be allocated SPA.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
