Are you a passionate and experienced Specialty Doctor looking to make a real difference in sexual and reproductive healthcare?

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (7.5 PA) Specialty Doctor in Contraception and Sexual and Reproductive Health (CSRH) to join Sexual Health Dorset on a permanent basis.

Role Overview

Working across Dorset, primarily from our Bournemouth and Weymouth hubs, you will join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to a diverse population.

This is a varied and rewarding role with opportunities to provide specialist contraception and sexual health care, including scan guided complex contraception management and long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) services. You will contribute to our Complex Contraception and LARC clinics, support the nurse-led Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTOP) service and contribute to the training and development of colleagues and trainees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist contraception and sexual health care
  • Offer scan guided complex contraception management and LARC services
  • Contribute to Complex Contraception and LARC clinics
  • Support the nurse-led MTOP service
  • Contribute to the training and development of colleagues and trainees

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of five years’ experience as a College Registered Trainer
  • Fully qualified in ultrasound scan guided techniques and practice for MTOP and complex contraception

Working Environment

As the Specialty Doctor, you will work under the direction of the CSRH Consultant and as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with a wide range of sexual and reproductive healthcare needs.

Working closely with consultants, nurses, health advisors, and operational colleagues, you will promote collaborative multidisciplinary working and help drive continuous service improvement. You will provide clinical leadership within the service and support the supervision, education, and development of nursing staff, trainees, and junior colleagues.

Development and Training

As the Specialty Doctor, you will contribute to teaching and training programmes, including support for DoCSRH, LoC IUT, and LoC SDI training, while also participating in clinical audit, quality improvement, research, and service development initiatives.

Support and Resources

The post is well supported by an Admin Manager, Data Lead, and dedicated administrative team, providing full administrative and secretarial support to facilitate the smooth running of clinics and timely communication with clinicians, referrers, and patients. Designated shared office space is available within the Hub.
