Anaesthetics Service Role
The post holder will actively contribute to the delivery of the Anaesthetics service within the directorate and participate in the out of hours rota, maintaining a high standard of care. The successful candidate may be required to work across all 3 sites. The post holder will be expected to play a full part in complying with all aspects of clinical governance.
Clinical Duties
The clinical duties will include those duties normally expected of a specialty doctor in a similar sized Trust. The appointees will have completed a minimum of 5 years Specialty training in Anaesthetics or equivalent with relevant experience and competencies. Full GMC registration is essential and evidence of further experience and training in Obstetric Anaesthesia is desirable.

Hospital Overview
Royal Albert Edward Infirmary (Wigan Infirmary)
- Provides in-patient acute beds for Medicine, Paediatrics, ENT, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Trauma, Pelvic Trauma, Breast Surgery and Urology.
- Houses the Obstetric Unit.
- Includes an Accident and Emergency Department which also functions as a Trauma Unit.
Wrightington Hospital
- Where most of the elective Orthopaedic Surgery is performed.
- Accommodates the Rheumatology service.
- A Tertiary referral Orthopaedic centre of Excellence, attracting Anaesthetic trainees with an interest in Regional Anaesthesia.
