Anaesthetic Team Role at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
We are inviting candidates to be part of our Anaesthetic team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, working at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke.
About the Role
This post is central to delivering effective patient care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will be primarily based in Basingstoke but you may be asked to attend other sites as required. The post will be involved in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment of patients. The post holder would be on the resident 1st on call rota working in theatres and supporting in Critical Care.
A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and the clinical supervisor. The clinical duties will include those normally expected of a CT2 trainee in an Anaesthetic Department of any general hospital in the United Kingdom. Resident on-call availability is required. The regular on-call commitment is 1:8 on a full shift rota. The weekend component of this rota is 1:8 long days and 1:8 nights. Prospective cover for colleagues’ annual leave is required. There is potential for working more or less than this to suit individual circumstances.

Duties
- Being part of the 1st on call rota, covering theatres and the Critical Care Unit.
- Critical Care duties include handover, regular ward rounds, and assessment of critically unwell patients in A&E and on the wards.
- Supported by a consultant in intensive care and consultant general anaesthetist, both non-resident.
- The majority of clinical work will be in BNHH main theatres or Day Treatment Centre, anaesthetising for a variety of surgical specialties.
- Opportunity to develop confidence anaesthetising for major surgical cases or particular sub-specialties, under consultant supervision.
