About the Role

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our forward-thinking and friendly Dermatology team. The post is based in the purpose-built Dermatology Outpatient and Treatment Centre, at Chorley District Hospital, where all Dermatology clinics are held.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of a specialised Dermatology Service to the local population supported by experienced Medical, Specialist Nurse, and Nursing colleagues.
  • Utilisation of the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities.
  • Minimising inconvenience to patients and ensuring ease of access.

About the Department

  • The Dermatology Unit has excellent links with the Plastic Surgery Department, situated within the Trust.
  • It is the hub of the Lancashire Cancer Network and the central base for local Plastic surgeons, with whom Dermatology has developed close working relationships and hosts the specialist skin MDT meeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Take part in the coordination of care for patients within CDH and RPH.
  • Take an active role in the planning, development, and delivery of the Dermatology Service for the Directorate.
  • Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time.
  • Ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods.
  • Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
  • Maintain links with General Practitioners operating in the area.
  • Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

Services Provided

  • The Dermatology department diagnoses and treats the whole range of inflammatory skin conditions and skin cancers in adults.
  • Provides guidance for in-patients with Dermatology conditions.
  • Utilises the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities.

About the Trust

LTHTR comprises of 2 sites, Royal Preston Hospital (RPH) and Chorley District Hospital (CDH).

  • Ward referrals are at both sites.
  • The weekly Regional Specialist Skin MDT is currently conducted via MS Teams.

About the Centre

The Trust provides a comprehensive range of outpatient Dermatology Services at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, in our purpose-built Dermatology Outpatient and Treatment Centre opened in April 2003.

The Centre is well-equipped with consulting suites, treatment rooms, theatres, office space, narrow-band UVB and UVA cabinets, hand and foot PUVA machine, and patch test facilities.

Team

The team consists of consultants, specialty doctors, medical photographers, dermatology specialist nurses, medical secretaries, admin support assistants, and a management team.
