Emergency Medicine in East Kent Hospitals is at an exciting period of redevelopment, having attracted national investment to rebuild both Emergency Departments at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital, Margate.
Our Emergency Departments provide innovative and fast-paced integrated emergency care to a wide range of patients from East Kent. It is our inspiration to develop into an academic and research unit in emergency medicine for Kent.
The Emergency Departments, one at the William Harvey Hospital (WHH), Ashford and the other at the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQMH), Margate, each offer a full 24-hour emergency service. The Emergency Departments are supported by co-located Urgent Treatment Centres, a 24-hour UTC at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital with a further 7 community UTCs in the region.
Role Overview
To provide high-quality care to patients including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the ED.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
