Specialty Doctor - Haematology

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and maternity services for a population of approximately 300,000 covering an area that includes Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon, and Kenilworth as well as rural South Warwickshire. We are pleased to invite applications for a Specialty Doctor in haematology to join our dynamic and expanding team at Warwick Hospital.

Our haematology service is well established and forward-thinking, comprising: 6 consultants, 1 specialty doctor, 3 resident doctors and 8 clinical nurse specialists. The team delivers level 2B care, including administration of bispecfic antibody therapy.

This is a 2-year fixed term post, with potential for extension. It is suitable for doctors with a specialist interest in haematology or seeking to gain further experience in haematology. The post is based at Warwick Hospital, and the post-holder will rotate with our present Specialty Doctor across the ward, treatment unit and outpatient clinics; some of which may be held at Stratford Hospital.

This post involves daily management of haematology inpatients and referrals from other specialties. The post-holder will also provide cover for the treatment unit to review and manage patients on chemotherapy who are unwell and perform procedures including bone marrows, venesections and removal of Hickman lines. The post holder will also participate in haematology clinics which cover a wide spectrum of haematological malignancies and general disorders. You will have the opportunity to be actively involved in research and attend multi-disciplinary team meetings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
