Specialty Doctor in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

This is a general obstetrics and gynaecology post with the opportunity to develop a special interest within gynaecology or obstetrics. We welcome candidates looking to progress towards completion of training via the portfolio pathway.

The post has elements of both obstetrics and gynaecology- without-patient clinics as well as sessions on the labour ward, theatre and emergency obstetrics and gynaecology. The trust would encourage development of a special interest to compliment the currently provided special interests.

We anticipate the successful candidate embraces all aspects of the speciality including surgery, audit, research, innovation and education.

The post holder will:

  • Play, in conjunction with consultant colleagues and management, an active role in the development and delivery of the service
  • Ensure, in conjunction with colleagues and management that the Trust meets its performance targets
  • Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team whilst at the same time have scope for personal development
  • Participate in audit and directorate meetings and other departmental meetings relevant to the speciality – for example: governance, clinical risk management and guideline groups.
  • Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and lead the coordination of care for patients within Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
  • Develop close links with clinical teams in other hospitals in the network.
  • Undergo appraisal and job planning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
