Role Overview

The Specialty Doctor, in collaboration with colleagues, Specialist Pharmacists, and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), is responsible for the day-to-day operations of private patient Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) clinics across three sites.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribing SACT: Under the oversight of the lead consultant.
  • Medical Assessment: Evaluating patients for their fitness for treatment.
  • Investigations: Arranging appropriate routine investigations.
  • Patient Information: Providing information to patients and their families regarding disease management, treatment, and side effects, and answering any related questions.

Duties

  • Clinical Decisions: Making clinical decisions within accepted professional standards and as delegated by the supervising Consultant.
  • Communication: Ensuring that Consultants are kept informed of patient progress at all times.
  • Flexibility: Working flexibly to meet cancer targets and support the team in providing services across the units.
