Role Overview
The Specialty Doctor, in collaboration with colleagues, Specialist Pharmacists, and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), is responsible for the day-to-day operations of private patient Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) clinics across three sites.
Responsibilities
- Prescribing SACT: Under the oversight of the lead consultant.
- Medical Assessment: Evaluating patients for their fitness for treatment.
- Investigations: Arranging appropriate routine investigations.
- Patient Information: Providing information to patients and their families regarding disease management, treatment, and side effects, and answering any related questions.
Duties
- Clinical Decisions: Making clinical decisions within accepted professional standards and as delegated by the supervising Consultant.
- Communication: Ensuring that Consultants are kept informed of patient progress at all times.
- Flexibility: Working flexibly to meet cancer targets and support the team in providing services across the units.
