We are excited to recruit an Ophthalmology specialty doctor to provide excellent care to our patients. The role focuses on Primary Care and Neuro-Ophthalmology. The post is fixed term for 12 months.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery and development of Neuro-Ophthalmology and Primary Care services within a busy and progressive ophthalmology department. The post offers significant opportunities for service development, multidisciplinary working, and gaining valuable experience in the Neuro-Ophthalmology sub-specialty.
Duties
The workload will include neuro-ophthalmology and cataract clinics and eye casualty sessions, and the post holder will also be expected to fulfil the following duties within the agreed job plan:
- Provision and development of exceptional ophthalmology services
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge and the proper functioning of the department
- Actively participate in clinical governance and audits
- Actively participate in departmental meetings

We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.

We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
