We are looking for a motivated and commercially driven Specification Business Development Manager to join our growing team and help drive specification growth across the Hospitality, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), and Commercial sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced specification sales professional who thrives on winning opportunities, building strong relationships, and influencing projects from concept through to completion.
The Role
As Specification Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing specification opportunities for our market-leading portfolio of door hardware, electronic access control solutions, hotel locking systems, and complete doorset packages.
Operating at the front end of the sales cycle, you will engage with developers, architects, interior designers, building owners, and key stakeholders to influence design decisions, secure specifications, and convert projects into profitable business.
You will play a key role in promoting integrated access solutions that deliver compliance, safety, performance, and long-term value to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Specification Growth
- Proactively identify, develop, and secure specification opportunities across the Hospitality, PBSA, and Commercial sectors.
- Promote ASSA ABLOY's complete range of door hardware, electronic locking, access control, and doorset solutions.
- Manage projects from the early design stage through to order and delivery.
- Maximise opportunities by promoting integrated access solutions and the wider ASSA ABLOY portfolio.
Build Strategic Relationships

Develop and maintain strong commercial relationships with:
- Developers and end-user clients
- Architects and interior designers
- Building owners and operators
- Timber and steel OEM partners
- Contractors and project stakeholders

- Become a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance on compliant and high-performance access solutions.
Promote Complete Access Solutions

Champion fully integrated solutions including:
- Electronic and hotel locking systems
- Mechanical door hardware
- Access control solutions
- Door sealing systems
- Complete doorset packages
Provide Technical & Compliance Expertise

Support customers with advice on:
- Fire safety and compartmentation
- Fire door standards, testing, and legislation
- BS8214, BS8670, and The Golden Thread
- Access control compliance and emergency egress
- Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and lifecycle value
Manage and Convert Opportunities
- Track and manage projects through Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM.
- Maintain a healthy pipeline with accurate forecasting.
- Protect specifications through effective stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborate closely with internal sales teams, estimators, and supply partners to secure orders and maximise margins.
Promote ASSA ABLOY in the Market

Deliver engaging CPDs, presentations, and training sessions covering:
- Fire door compliance
- Industry standards and best practice
- Total cost of ownership
- Future trends in door hardware and access solutions
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Proven track record in specification sales.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience delivering against revenue targets.
- Experience influencing architects, developers, contractors, and end-user clients.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable

Experience within the Hospitality or PBSA sectors.

Knowledge of:
- Doors and door hardware
- Electronic locking and access control systems
- Framework agreements
- Specification-led sales processes

Existing relationships with architects, developers, or end users.

GAI qualification or similar industry accreditation.
