About The Role
As a Specification Engineer, you'll provide technical expertise and consultation during the early design stages of construction projects, building relationships with Architects and Architectural Practices. You'll propose passive fire protection (PFP) solutions and products, advising on technical requirements, feasibility and compliance with relevant standards.
Your focus will be on maximising Hilti's specification potential through the delivery of a high standard of engineering service, with a primary focus on passive fire protection solutions. You'll support Architects and design teams in ensuring the most appropriate solution meets the technical and compliance requirements of each project.
This is a highly mobile role involving travel across the UK. To support customer and project coverage, you will ideally be based in or around London or Manchester.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical support and expertise to Architects, architectural practices and design teams, helping them understand and implement passive fire protection (PFP) and firestopping solutions.
- Work closely with Architects and design professionals to integrate Hilti's products and systems into building designs, specifications and construction projects.
- Demonstrate the value of Hilti's products, services and software, driving technical solution adoption and building a strong specification pipeline across both new-build and refurbishment projects.
- Develop relationships with architectural practices, design consultancies and key project stakeholders through technical training, educational resources and industry networking events.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
