Wanted: Head of Specification / Senior Specification Specialist (a.k.a. The Blueprint Whisperer)

Location: 3–4 days in the field (London & Home Counties), 1 day at Gatwick HQ

Role Type: Full-time, Permanent

Target Experience: 2+ years in specification sales with aligned products (HVAC, piping, building services, or mechanical MEP)

The Lowdown:

Representing a market-leading provider of engineered mechanical and building service solutions, we are on the hunt for a specification specialist who knows how to get written into the blueprint long before the ground is broken.

Our client produces high-performance systems for major commercial and residential developments. They don't want to just compete on price at the contractor stage—they want to be the default choice at the design table.

That’s where you come in. We need a well-networked, technically sound Specification Professional (or a rising star ready to step up as Head of Specification) to build ironclad relationships with M&E consultants, architects, and specifiers across London and the surrounding areas.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Getting Written In: Engage directly with M&E design consultants and specifiers to ensure our client’s technical product range is specified early in the project lifecycle.
  • Pounding the Pavement (and the Tube): Spend 3 to 4 days a week out in the field across London and the Home Counties, running technical CPD presentations, design meetings, and networking over coffee.
  • HQ Alignment: Spend 1 day a week at our client's Gatwick-area HQ to collaborate with technical support, review pipeline data, and feed market intel back to executive leadership.
  • Guarding the Spec: Work closely with the contractor sales team to make sure your hard-earned specifications aren't swapped out for cheap knockoffs when procurement kicks in.
  • Building the Pipeline: Track upcoming construction projects from early concept through to tender, ensuring a robust, long-term sales funnel.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who You Are:

  • Product Alignment: You come from a closely aligned B2B technical sector—think HVAC, pipework, valves, pumps, drainage, or MEP building services. You can talk technical specs without breaking a sweat.
  • London & South East Savvy: You know the regional developer and design consultant landscape like the back of your hand and don't mind navigating the capital 3–4 days a week.
  • Relentless Tracker: You treat a specification like gold—you don't just drop off a brochure and hope; you track projects all the way to completion.
