About Pure Renewables
Pure Renewables Commercial Ltd specialises in the design, supply, installation and commissioning of industrial and commercial heat pump solutions. We work with organisations across the UK and Ireland to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, improve energy efficiency and deliver meaningful progress towards their decarbonisation objectives. As demand for low-carbon heating and cooling solutions continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our UK commercial team with the appointment of an experienced Sales Specification Manager.
The Role
The Sales Specification Manager will be responsible for developing relationships with consultants, specifiers, designers, developers and end clients to ensure Pure Renewables and our heat pump solutions are considered at the earliest possible stage of projects. This is a consultative, technically led sales position requiring someone who can understand client requirements, identify suitable opportunities and work collaboratively with our Engineering and Design teams to develop credible solutions. A key part of the role will be influencing project specifications and creating opportunities before they reach formal tender. The successful candidate will build strong, long-term relationships across the UK consultancy and specification market, positioning Pure Renewables as a trusted technical partner for industrial and commercial heat pump projects.
Key Responsibilities
The Sales Specification Manager will:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with M&E consultants, building services consultants, design engineers, developers, architects, contractors and end-user clients.
- Promote Pure Renewables' industrial and commercial heat pump capabilities across the UK market.
- Identify projects at concept and early design stage where heat pump technology could provide a viable heating, cooling or process-heat solution.
- Work with consultants and design teams to understand project requirements and assist in developing appropriate technical solutions.
- Influence specifications so that Pure Renewables' solutions and capabilities are considered within project designs and tender documentation.
- Secure opportunities for Pure Renewables to provide technical input during feasibility, concept and detailed design stages.
- Deliver technical and commercial presentations to consultants, clients and other key stakeholders.
- Develop relationships with key specification practices and consultant organisations across the UK.
- Identify target consultants, developers and organisations and develop structured account plans for priority relationships.
- Arrange and deliver CPDs, technical presentations, workshops and other educational sessions where appropriate.
- Track projects from early-stage specification through design, tender and procurement.
- Maintain ownership and visibility of specification opportunities throughout the sales cycle.
- Work closely with the wider Sales team to ensure specified opportunities are successfully converted into enquiries, proposals and orders.
- Collaborate closely with Pure Renewables' Engineering and Design teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically viable and appropriate for the client's requirements.
- Support site visits, surveys and client meetings where required.
- Assist with the preparation of technical proposals, presentations, tender submissions and supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of client activity, specifications, opportunities and project progress within the company's CRM system.
- Provide regular pipeline forecasts and updates on key opportunities.
- Monitor market developments, competitor activity and emerging technologies within the heat pump and decarbonisation sectors.
- Represent Pure Renewables at industry exhibitions, conferences, networking events and relevant professional forums.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen Pure Renewables' profile within the consultant and specification community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

They will understand that specification sales is about developing trusted relationships over the long term, providing genuine technical value and ensuring Pure Renewables is involved early enough to influence how projects are designed and delivered.
