Do you have experience managing food specifications within a fast-paced manufacturing environment?

Are you confident working with food labelling legislation, artwork approval and customer requirements?

Can you manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy?


MacGregor Black are partnering with a well-established food manufacturing business to recruit a Specification Technologist to join their Technical team on a permanent, full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced specifications professional to play a key role in supporting product launches, maintaining accurate product information and ensuring compliance across a varied customer portfolio.

Working closely with Technical, NPD, Packaging and Customer teams, you will be responsible for managing product specifications and artwork, ensuring they meet customer, retailer and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain finished product specifications.
  • Review and approve packaging artwork.
  • Ensure product information meets legislative and customer requirements.
  • Support NPD and product launch projects.
  • Liaise with Technical, NPD, Operations and Customer teams.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in a Specifications or Technical role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of food labelling legislation.
  • Experience with artwork approval and customer requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Relevant food-related qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Degree/HND in Food Science, Food Technology or a related subject.
  • Food labelling qualification.
