Salary: £35,000 per annum + activity / opportunity bonus scheme

Contract: Full-time

Hawk3 Talent Solutions are working on behalf of our client, an established UK manufacturer, to recruit a Specification Business Development Coordinator to support the Specification Business Development team and help create a consistent flow of high-quality opportunities.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established manufacturing business and play a key role in supporting the growth of its Specification division.

The role is focused on identifying and engaging with relevant decision-makers across the construction and property sectors, creating meaningful conversations and generating qualified opportunities for the Specification Business Development Managers to progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain structured regional target-account lists, working closely with the Specification Business Development Managers.
  • Research and identify relevant organisations and key decision-makers across councils, housing associations, surveyors, architects, specifiers, consultants, main contractors, and roofing contractors.
  • Proactively engage decision-makers by telephone, email, LinkedIn, and other approved channels, tailoring your approach to their role and potential requirements.
  • Book high-quality meetings, CPDs, and project discussions for the Specification Business Development team.
  • Ensure meetings are properly qualified, including the reason for the meeting, attendees, opportunity context, and agreed objective.
  • Identify early project information wherever possible, including building or project type, requirements, likely timing, funding or budget position, incumbent systems, procurement route, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to develop repeat relationships within target organisations rather than focusing solely on individual projects.
  • Research and engage contractors operating within the territory, including those currently installing competitor systems, to create opportunities for the development of future Approved Installer relationships.
  • Support CPD attendance and follow-up, ensuring presentations lead to meaningful conversations, projects, and agreed next actions.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records covering contacts, activity, meetings, opportunities, next actions, and outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Specification Business Development Manager to review target accounts, meeting quality, pipeline created, and gaps in territory coverage.
  • Provide market intelligence to Sales and Marketing, including competitor activity, customer objections, project trends, and opportunities for improved content or technical support.
  • Follow up on opportunities after handover to understand whether activity is progressing into quotations, pipeline, and orders, using this feedback to continually improve future targeting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
