Job Description

BELS has a vacancy for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join the Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC) team. This innovative programme began in June 2024 and is delivered by a team of Speech and Language Therapy Assistants and senior Speech and Language Therapists. Together, we provide training, coaching, and support to education staff across Barnet. The successful candidate will receive full training and support to deliver screening assessments and interventions to children and provide training, modelling and coaching to education staff.

This role involves delivering universal and targeted support to children, families, and education staff as part of an integrated early language support service. ELSEC was a pilot project, funded by NHS England and the Department for Education, aiming to test the impact of early identification and support for children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) in Early Years and Primary settings.

The successful applicant will have experience of working with children in a healthcare or education setting (including in early years and/or primary schools). They will have experience in supporting children’s speech, language and communication skills.

To learn more about the programme, please visit the Department for Education website: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/earlier-support-for-speech-and-language-for-20000-children

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
